PNL is still a hypothesis, there were experiments where it did not come up. I did not want to go into details discussing it here. Connecting to PNL, there is an interesting data on changing chemical composition of plants leading to lower quality of the plant products. Say, lower quality of wood. Or less nutrients in the forage.
