In my previous life in R&D, my professor always slapped my wrist for "Установлено, что..." without a reference to a source. I’m trying adhere to the rule, but sometimes it’s very difficult with some people I come across in my line of work. The way many people here write documents would have never passed back in my time in Russia. As well I don’t think there is a problem with translation it to English. “it was found...” or “Authors [..] fond..” or something similar.
Working in the telecom industry for many years, I do think that Russian is not the best language to express ideas in the telecom world nowadays. But it’s mostly due to historical reasons and convenience rather than any language issues. I think language had or has no bearing on a way for example things are designed by engineers. On the other hand definitely a school of practices or ideas common or prevailing in a country influences decision making process very much.
